These Geese were made with the quick method that turns out four of the same fabric; so five sets were made and joined in the same order. The center is quilted with a continuous line design and each triangle was quilted simply with a walking foot.
This 12” square is for August, is called Honey Bee and is a traditional quilt block. I made it with White Kona and a Yellow print. Yellow is a favorite color of mine and pleasing prints are hard to find.
The petals are appliquéd and stitched down by machine with invisible thread.
It is quilted with free motion quilting and looks like it needs more but heavy quilting is not my style.
This is my second one for January. I made another since the first one didn’t make me happy. The embroidery designs came from emblibrary.com and were stitched on a lovely Cream print fabric with Winter Sky Sulky thread. The snowflake also used a Light Blue and stitched out heavy even though I removed some of the density in the design. Not having a nice small continuous line design for the inside of the Blue squares I programmed a design from stitches on the machine--was not totally happy with the result.
This 12” square was made for a gift. I made some color changes to the design and as a result the stitches on the berries didn’t fix/lock and had to be finished by hand--not my favorite thing to do--and look how many there are.
I had planned to make another but lost my incentive. I’m on the lookout for another similar design though.
Here is a closeup showing some of the free motion quilting.
